Elections

The Bleckley Voter Registrars are offering a secure ballot drop box to provide eligible voters a way to return their voted absentee ballots for the November 3 General Election and Special Election. No postage is necessary on ballots placed in the drop box.

The ballot drop box features 24-hour surveillance and will be available, beginning Monday, October 12, 2020, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through Tuesday, November 3 at 7:00pm.

After placing your voted absentee ballot in the privacy envelope and the completed oath envelope, you may return your ballot to the drop box located in the rear of the Bleckley County Courthouse, on the corner of the rear parking lot and Courthouse Lane (across Courthouse Lane from the Cochran Police Department).

ELECTION RECOUNT PUBLIC NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that a recount of the results of the President of the United States race from the November 3, 2020, General Election, will begin Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.  The recount will continue from hour to hour until complete and members of the public are entitled to be present during the recount. Said recount will be conducted at 112 N Second Street, Cochran, GA 31014.

EARLY PROCESSING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-386(a)(1)(G)(4) and State Election Board Emergency Rule 183-1-14-0.9-.15 (Processing Absentee Ballots Prior to Election Day), notice is hereby given that the Bleckley County Election Superintendent intends to begin early processing of absentee ballots beginning Monday, October 26, 2020, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Processing will continue from day to day and hour to hour until complete and members of the public are entitled to be present during processing.  Said processing will be conducted at 112 N Second Street, Cochran, GA 31014 upstairs, across the hall from the Voter Registrars’ office. The early processing of absentee ballots before the closing of the polls shall be a controlled process in order to maintain the secrecy of all ballots and to protect against the collection or disclosure of any balloting information before the close of the polls at 7:00 P.M. on Election Day.

The Secretary of State is encouraging all voters to take advantage of Absentee Voting for the May General Primary. This will facilitate avoiding public gatherings at early voting and election day polling locations for the May State Primary.
